The Verify Door v1.23 Configuration Program
The TVD configuration program is menu driven. On line help might be
included in later releases, but for now please refer to TCBVDxxx.DOC for
answers to questions you might have on individual entries to the TVD config
and other TVD files.
Before running the SETUP program, you should ideally know the following
information from your system:
1) Security level of your NEW USER.
2) Security level to upgrade a successfully verified user to.
3) If your modem has built-in error correction, you should know
the commands your modem uses to disable/enable this feature
Please note: setup is for setting up, it is not meant to be used for
door maintenance! It's possible that a future release of TVD may include
a maintenance program, but for now, use your favorite text editor for
maintenance.
GETTING STARTED
>>NOTE! If you are upgrading from a previous version, please see UPGRADE.DOC.
Unzip the files in any directory on your hard drive, then run either the
INSTALL.BAT file or run SETUPxx.EXE direct. You do NOT have to be in the
directory where you want the files to reside. If the directory where you
want the TVD files to reside does not exist, SETUP will create it for you.
Hint: If you are installing this door on a network, copy all the TVD
files to the drive & directory where you intend to run the door from,
change to that drive and directory, THEN run the setup program.
Although the TVD door code itself was written to be network compatible,
setup is not that great at running on a network (yet!)
Run all options, starting with option #1.
INITIAL SETUP (option #1) will ask you where you want to set up the
TVD door files. Setup will then optionally make the directory if it
doesn't already exist on your system, and then will copy the necessary
files to the directory you chose.
Setup will then read your PCBoard system configuration and help you setup
paths to critical files needed by The Verify Door, and will write the path
names to the default config file TCBV.CNF.
Now, proceed with running the other options, starting with option #2,
paying special attention to any line in the config file containing a
path/filename or a user security level. Please refer to TCBVDxxx.DOC for
additional information.
NOTE TO MULTI-NODE PCBOARD SYSOPS:
This new version of SETUP now allows you to enter the name of your TCBV
config file for a particular node. If no entry is made SETUP defaults to
the TCBV.CNF file.
The command line for multi-node configuration is:
SETUPxx [config file name]
Example: Setting up for Node #1 might go something like this:
SETUPxx tcbv1.cnf
or for node 2:
SETUPxx tcbv2.cnf
(Typing in SETUPxx by itself will open the default file TCBV.CNF)
If the config file doesn't exist, setup will create it.
